MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 34-year-old man was charged after he allegedly spat on an officer’s leg Thursday evening.
Christopher Kosak of Monkton, VT was charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement, throwing bodily fluid at law enforcement, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
At 11:16 p.m., Officer Slinger responded to the holiday Inn Express, located on International Drive, for the report of a disturbance. The hotel employee advised that there was a male who was playing loud music and writing on hotel property with a marker, police said.
When Officer Slinger arrived, he located Kosak outside of the lobby. When he saw the officer, he turned and reentered the hotel, stopping at the elevators, police said.
As Officer Slinger attempted to speak with Kosak, he began to yell expletives, and refused to comply with the officer’s directions, police said.
Officer Jadue and Cpl. Rossy arrived to assist, and Kosak allegedly spit at the officers, striking Officer Jadue in the leg, police said.
As the officers attempted to place Kosak under arrest, he began to fight and attempt to bite the officers. He was sprayed with OC spray, and was then able to be placed in handcuffs, police said.
Kosak was subsequently transported to police headquarters and charged. He was transported to Saint Clare’s Hospital for evaluation, and released pending a court hearing.
