Former Hamburg PTA treasurer sentenced to probation

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A former treasurer for the Hamburg Parent Teacher Association was sentenced after pleading guilty to misapplication of entrusted property.

Aimee Lowry-Crane, 40, of Hamburg was sentenced by the Honorable William J. McGovern, III J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on Friday.

Lowry-Crane pled guilty on November 2, 2017, to third-degree misapplication of entrusted property.

Between June 30, 2014 and March 15, 2016, while serving in the fiduciary relationship as treasurer for the Hamburg Parent Teacher Association, Lowry-Crane allegedly disposed of funds that had been entrusted to her in a manner that she knew was unlawful and involving substantial risk of loss or detriment to the PTA.

Lowry-Crane was sentenced to three years of probation on condition she submit a DNA sample, pay $4,916.57 restitution to the victim, obtain any evaluations required by probation and follow all recommendations, and pay $157.00 in court fines and fees.
