Man sentenced to 12 years for drug distribution

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Newton man was sentenced after he was convicted of hydrocodone, cocaine and heroin distribution.

Cornelius Hill was sentenced by the Honorable William J. McGovern, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, on February 21, the prosecutor’s office said.

Hill was convicted of third-degree distribution of hydrocodone on February 12, 2013 and distribution of cocaine on February 14, 2013 in Newton. He was also convicted of third-degree distribution of heroin in Newton on August 12, 2016.

Hill was sentenced to the Department of Corrections for twelve years with six years of parole ineligibility, 444 days of jail credit for time served, $3,375.00 in fines and a 24 month loss of driver’s license.
