HOPATCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – Two Sussex County residents are facing drug charges following a traffic stop last month.
Karen Lopez, 27, of Hopatcong was charged with possession of cocaine, MDMA, heroin, oxycodone, and marijuana.
Johshawnt King, 31, of Hopatcong was charged with possession of marijuana and hindering by providing false information.
On February 24 at 5:06 p.m., a Hopatcong officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Lakeside Blvd. When the officer approached the vehicle, the officer observed that there were three occupants in the vehicle, the driver and two were back seat passengers, who were identified as Lopez and King, police said.
The officer detected a strong odor of raw marijuana in the vehicle and Lopez allegedly appeared to be under the influence of a stimulant, police said.
The officer searched the passengers and vehicle at which point the officer allegedly found suspected cocaine, suspected MDMA “Molly”, suspected heroin, suspected oxycodone, and suspected marijuana, police said.
Lopez and King were lodged in the Sussex County Jail.
