Hackettstown’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is this Sunday, police issue traffic advisory

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – The Hackettstown Business Improvement District invites residents to enjoy a day of music, food and dancing all with Irish flare this Sunday, March 11 for the 10th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The parade will kick off at 3:30 p.m. with Grand Marshal Ed Shellman leading numerous participants including Irish dance groups, Irish bands, community groups, bagpipes, drums, Centenary University clubs and groups, animals, Hackettstown and surrounding area fire departments and rescue squads, as well as hometown favorites Junior and Senior Colonial Musketeers and the Hackettstown Community Band.

This parade is pet-friendly, with a special pet costume contest sponsored by Doggie Styleashes. Dress your pets for the chance to win prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places. Judging will be held at Czig Meister Brewing starting at 3:00 p.m. sharp. Pets will then be invited to walk the parade as St. Patrick and Irish Heritage costume contestants after judging.

Parade Route: Begins in front of the Post Office located at 120 Grand Ave, round right corner onto Main Street toward David’s Country Inn, bear right onto Mountain Ave. and end at Union Cemetery.

Hackettstown Police issued a traffic advisory for the day of the parade, advising visitors that Route 46 (Main Street) between Liberty Street and Warren Street and Route 182 (Mountain Avenue) between Route 46 (Main Street) and Victoria Lane will be closed at 3:15 p.m.

Numerous Side Streets leading into Route 46 and Route 182 will also be closed. Police officers will be on scene directing traffic around the road closure.

There will also be no parking on the following streets starting at 2 p.m. Sunday: Route 46 between Grand Ave and Warren St, Washington St between Church St and Valentine St, Franklin St between Liberty St and Route 517 (High St), Liberty St between Route 46 and Franklin St, Valentine St between Route 46 and Beatty St, Madison St between Valentine St and Grand Ave, Monroe St between Valentine St and Grand Ave, Jefferson St between Valentine St and Grand Ave, Washington St between Warren St and Bells Lane, Victoria Lane between Route 182 and Mitchell Rd and Bells Lane between Route 182 and Washington St.

Any vehicles parked in any of those areas will be ticketed and towed.

Parking is available in any of the municipal parking lots and on many side streets.
