HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A 17-year-old Hackettstown female who allegedly reported being abducted last week has been charged with making a false report.

On March 9, the Hackettstown Police Department and the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit arrested the juvenile for fourth-degree providing a false report to law enforcement, the prosecutor’s office said.

On March 1, 2018 she reported to the police by telling them that she was abducted, in Hackettstown, by an unknown male and was released a short time later within Hackettstown.

A week later, after a significant amount of resources were expended during the investigation, it was determined that the allegation about the abduction was false.

Upon her arrest, she was released to her family pending court proceedings.

On the fourth degree crime, the juvenile is exposed to 12 months incarceration at a State Juvenile Facility.
