Many times, you can’t go through a day without seeing an advertisement for products that promise to make your teeth brighter and whiter. But there are obviously a lot of questions: are these products safe? how well do they work? how easy are they to use?
The High Tech Dentist, Dr. Gary Vander Vliet, stopped by the RNJ Morning Program on Friday to talk with Morning Mike about teeth whitening.
First of all, while no smile should be hidden when talking, and no one should refuse to laugh just to conceal a dull or discolored grin, Dr. Gary noted that the bright white teeth we see on television, on billboards, on the Internet, and in magazines is not the natural color of teeth. Teeth come in a wide variety of colors, and regular dental hygiene will take care of staining and make sure your teeth are as bright as they can be.
If you are in search of whiter, brighter teeth, there are several options available: In-Office Whitening, Professional Take-Home Whitening, and Over the-Counter products. Each one has pros and cons; Dr. Gary recommends talking to your dentist and getting a complete exam before starting any teeth whitening process.
