PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – A month-long investigation into the alleged distribution of heroin in the Phillipsburg area has led to the arrest of a Phillipsburg man, according to Warren County Prosecutor Richard Burke.
On Wednesday, Phillipsburg police, Washington Township Police, Hackettstown Police, NJ State Police and the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Unit executed a narcotics search warrant in Phillipsburg, Burke said.
According to the prosecutor’s office, heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and a large amount of U.S. currency were seized, Burke said.
Oreste Herrera, 35, of Schultz Ave was charged with three counts of third-degree possession of heroin, one count of third-degree possession of cocaine, three counts of possession with the intent to distribute heroin and two counts of distribution of heroin.
Each third-degree offense carries a maximum term of imprisonment of five years and/or a fine of $35,000 for possession and $75,000 for distribution or possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.
