SPARTA TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Pennsylvania duo is facing drug charges following a traffic stop Friday morning.

Alexander Arizan, 23, of Shohola was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, fail to keep right on highway, failure to exhibit documents, careless driving, controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and DWI.

Nell Sheehan, 22, of Shohola was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

At around 1:00 a.m., a township officer stopped a blue Pontiac travelling Route 15 north, for allegedly failing to keep right on the highway.

As the officer approached the vehicle to speak with Arizan, who was the driver, he observed him to be very lethargic. Arizan stated that he was just tired and did not drink or do any drugs, police said.

The officer observed Sheehan, who was the front seat passenger, to have dried blood on her hand and pants, police said.

Arizan was asked to step out of the vehicle to perform field sobriety tests. After the tests were completed, Arizan was placed under arrest for DWI. He  was then searched and found to be in possession of hypodermic needles. A search of the vehicle revealed 45 full wax folds of heroin stamped “Ford”, multiple empty wax folds of heroin and other drug paraphernalia, police said.

A search of Sheehan’s pocketbook revealed additional drug paraphernalia.

Arizan and Sheehan were transported to Sparta Police Headquarters to be processed. Both were advised of mandatory court appearances and released.
