Firefighters battle 4-alarm fire at condominium complex

GLEN GARDNER, N.J. (Hunterdon County) – Firefighters from Hunterdon and Warren counties battled a four-alarm fire Wednesday evening at the Spruce Hills condominium complex.

The fire was reported at 1601 Spruce Hills Dr shortly after 5 p.m. The condominium complex is located off of Glen Manor Dr.

According to radio reports, heavy fire and smoke was throughout the building when firefighters first arrived on scene.

“Four units caught fire and It’s believed to have started in 1601,” Glen Gardner Mayor Mattias Schroeter told RNJ.

“Several people were evacuated and the six or seven people that were displaced are safe and being taken care of,” Schroeter said.

There was no word immediately available on what caused the fire or if there were any injuries. The fire was reportedly under control by 6:00 p.m.

Assisting at the scene were the State Police (Washington barracks),Glen Gardner Office of Emergency Management, High Bridge Emergency Squad, Hampton Fire, Hampton Emergency Squad, Hunterdon Medical Center MICU, Califon Fire, Lebanon Fire Department, Clinton First Aid & Rescue Squad, Quakertown Fire Department, High Bridge Fire Department, Lebanon Township Fire Department, Washington Emergency Squad, Washington Special Operations and Washington Fire Department.
