Woman breaks into Byram Twp. home, steals more than $3K

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Newton woman was charged last month for allegedly breaking into a home in February, police said in a news release Tuesday.

On February 9, at around 6:35 p.m., township police responded to a report of a residential burglary on Woods Drive. During the course of the day, the unoccupied residence was entered and $3,400 is cash was stolen from the residence, police said.

Police interviewed the neighbors and a suspect was developed, police said.

On April 5, an interview was conducted with Briana Sickel of Newton, during which she allegedly admitted burglarizing the residence and taking the $3,400, police said.

Sickel was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree theft. She was released with a pending court appearance in Superior Court.
