2 men found with cocaine during traffic stop

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A pair of Hackettstown men are facing drug charges following a traffic stop Saturday.

At 12:34 a.m., a township police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Schooley’s Mountain Road for a motor vehicle violation, police said.

While speaking with the operator of the vehicle who was identified as Franklin Nunez, 28, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle, police said.

A subsequent investigation by police, found 10-12 open containers of beer behind the drivers and passengers seat along with three bags of cocaine and one empty bag of cocaine containing residue, police said.

Nunez along with his passenger,who was identified as Oscar Flores, 35, were placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters, police said.

Nunez and Flores were both charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and later released with a mandatory court date in Morris County Superior Court.
