BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A North Bergen man is facing multiple charges after police find drugs and a loaded semi-automatic gun during a traffic stop.
David Moreira was charged with possession of a handgun, possession of hollow point ammunition, possession of Xanax, possession of marijuana, possession of cannabis oil, speeding, improper passing, possession of controlled substance in a motor vehicle and tinted windows.
Angel Feliz of Guttenberg was charged with possession of marijuana and false information to law enforcement.
On May 26 at around 3:56 p.m., a township police officer was working a click-it or ticket detail, when the officer allegedly observed a vehicle traveling ahead of him commit several moving violations, police said.
A motor vehicle stop was initiated and the officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, police said.
Upon questioning Moreira and Feliz, they surrendered several bags of marijuana, cannabis oil and a partially smoked marijuana cigar, police said.
Both suspects didn’t have identification and when asked for their names, Angel Feliz initially provided the officer with a fictitious last name, police said.
A subsequent search of the vehicle produced an additional quantity of cannabis oil, Xanax and a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol loaded with hollow point ammunition, police said.
Moreira was lodged in Sussex County Jail and Feliz was released pending a court appearance.
