MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 30-year-old Boonton man was killed early Friday morning after his motorcycle struck a deer and then was the hit by a car, according to State Police spokesman Trooper Alejandro Goez.
The crash was reported on the eastbound side of I-80 near mile marker 25.7 at 2:00 a.m., Goez said.
Brandon Lastfogel was travelling east on I-80 on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he struck a deer. The motorcycle then overturned and he was ejected. Lastfogel was then struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene, Goez said.
“The description of the vehicle is still under investigation,” Goez said.
Lastfogel sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:27 a.m., Goez said.
Interstate 80 eastbound was closed for approximately 5 hours while state police investigated the crash, Goez said.
