On Thursday morning, Morning Mike welcomed Corporal Lisa Delena, from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, to RNJ Studio #1. Corporal Delena shared the details of this year’s Law Enforcement New Jersey Torch Run for Special Olympics, taking place on Friday, June 8th. 2018 marks the 35th anniversary for this event, raising awareness and support for athletes participating in New Jersey’s Special Olympics. This year, 26 separate routes will cover 750 miles, ending at the College of New Jersey, where the opening ceremonies will take place. The New Jersey Special Olympics will take place this Saturday and Sunday, June 9th and 10th at TCNJ.

In Warren County, two routes will begin around 8:30 a.m.; one starting in Greenwich Township, and the other beginning in the parking area of Mars Wrigley Confectioners on Route 517 in Hackettstown. The two groups will run along 57, join up in Washington, and head down Route before handing the torches off to Hunterdon County representatives near Hampton.

Learn more and support the Torch Run by visiting the Special Olympics of New Jersey, and the NJTorchRun.org.
