NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Hudson County man was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Austin Puetate , 21, of Bayonne was sentenced by the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on June 8.
Puetate, who was intoxicated at the time, was involved in a large fight at a Hopatcong home and when police arrived to break up the fight he assaulted one of the officers.
Puetate was sentenced to three years probation on condition that he maintain full time employment, undergo a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, and pay $205 in fines and fees.
Puetate pled guilty on February 26, 2018, to fourth-degree aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
