HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – The mother of a 5-year-old girl that a postal worker found alone outside of her home last week was charged on Monday.

Alison Gamba, 41, of Hackettstown was charged with fourth-degree child neglect.

On June 5, at around 11:01 a.m., town police responded to the 100 block of Canal Way in reference to an unattended child, police said.

A postal worker found the 5-year-old girl on the sidewalk in front of the residence and no one was home, police said.

The postal worker then flagged down a Mount Olive Fire Marshal who then contacted police.

Through a police investigation, it was determined that Gamba allegedly left her child home alone while she went to work in Whippany, NJ for the day, police said.

Gamba was lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility.
