CHESTER, NJ (Morris County) – A Union County man who allegedly threatend a person with a knife at an ice cream parlor was charged Saturday evening.
Mark F. Ferreira, 47, of Roselle Park was charged with theft by unlawful taking, unlawful possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct.
At around 8:10 p.m., officers responded to Taylor’s Ice Cream Parlor, located at 18 Main Street, for a report of a man wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans who was allegedly threatening a person with a knife, police said.
When officer arrived, they were advised by an employee that Ferreira was seated in the establishment’s kitchen and had a knife in his pocket, police said.
Upon entering the kitchen, officers made contact with Ferreira who was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a large wooden handled kitchen knife, which he had allegedly taken from the establishment’s kitchen after using the restroom, police said.
Ferreira was released on his own recognizance to a family member and is scheduled to appear in Morris County Superior Court on August 8, police said.
