DOVER, N.J. (Morris County) – Guillermo Delacruz, 50, of Dover, pleaded guilty on May 11 and was sentenced Friday in Superior Court to 11 years in State Prison, with 60 months of parole ineligibility for first degree possession with the Intent to distribute cocaine, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said.
A total of $57,055 of drug proceeds also was seized at the time of Delacruz’s arrest and was forfeited to the state, according to Knapp.
Dover Police Officer Timothy Thiel conducted a motor vehicle stop on Delacruz’s vehicle for his failure to wear a seat belt on February 5, 2016. During the investigation, a consent to search of his vehicle was obtained which led to the recovery of approximately 445 grams of Cocaine and $57,055 in cash. Delacruz ultimately admitted to transporting and selling the Cocaine, Knapp said.
“Patrol Officers are on the front lines against crime every day,” said Prosecutor Knapp. “During this field investigation, Officer Thiel demonstrated his commitment to the law enforcement mission of public service and safety by removing a dangerous drug dealer from our streets,” he added.
