SPARTA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) – Sparta police investigated a three car crash with injuries early Sunday morning on Main Street (Route 517) near the Ogdensburg town line, Sgt. Dennis Proctor said.
The initial police investigation revealed that a black Nissan Altima became disabled on Main Street before the accident occurred at 3:22 a.m. Two 17-year-old juveniles and Erica Flowers, 21, of Vernon were awaiting outside of their vehicles for AAA to arrive, proctor said.
A 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse, operated by Sarah Jane Beagle, 30, of Ogdensburg, struck the Nissan Altima from behind causing the Nissan Altima to strike a 2002 Hyundai Elantra which was parked in front of Flower’s vehicle, Proctor said.
Erica Flowers, who was standing between the Nissan and Hyundai during the time of the crash, suffered serious injuries. Flowers was transported to Morristown Medical Center, Proctor said.
Flowers was listed in fair condition Sunday afternoon, according to Elaine Andrecovich Public Relations Manager for Morristown Medical Center.
The two 17-year-old juveniles were transported to Newton Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries, Proctor said. The juveniles conditions were not released due to their age.
Sarah Beagle was transported to Newton Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries, Proctor said.
Beagle’s conditions was not available, Andrecovich said Sunday afternoon.
Route 517 was closed for approximately 3 hours.
Sparta Township was assisted by the Franklin Police Department, Andover Police Department and the Ogdensburg Police Department while the accident was investigated.
The crash is still under investigation, Proctor said.
