SPARTA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) – Route 15 has re-opened following a crash Friday afternoon at mile marker 14 in Sparta.
Gary P. Williams, 64, of Bogota, N.J. was traveling Route 15 Northbound at 2:00 p.m. when he lost control of the fully loaded dump truck, rolled over a guard rail and came to rest in a pond located near mile marker 14, police said.
No one was injured in the crash.
New Jersey State Police and Sussex County Hazmat responded to assist. There was significant traffic delays in this area, police said.
NY Susquehanna railroad checked the tracks prior to opening, police said.
The investigation is preliminary and State Police is the lead agency handling it, Sparta police said.
