CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) – New Jersey State Police Marine Divers recovered the body of a Randolph man from Spruce Run Reservoir on Tuesday, State Police Trooper Jeff Flynn.
John Grieb, 44, was found at 9:32 a.m. and was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:10 a.m., said Flynn.
The preliminary investigation revealed “nothing suspicious,” Flynn said.
Grieb apparently fell into the reservoir Monday, August 22 when the boat he was riding in overturned, Flynn said.
The search, which was called off at nightfall on Monday, resumed Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., Flynn said.
Searchers used a side scan sonar device attached to a rescue boat to locate Grieb, which was then recovered by divers, said Flynn.
On Monday, two men were traveling in the boat when it overturned, Department of Environmental Protection spokesman Lawrence Hajna said Monday.
One of the men was able to swim back to shore, Hajna said, while Grieb was unable to reach the shore.
