MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) – A Budd Lake man is facing drug charges after he was seen driving erratically and then found with a fresh needle mark on his arm, police said.
At 4:39 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, Sgt. Mase and Officer Carney responded to the area of Budd Ave for the report of a suspicious vehicle, police said.
According to police, a 911 caller advised that he was following a white Mercedes that was driving erratically, and the driver appeared to be bleeding.
When the officers arrived in the area, they were flagged down by the 911 caller, who pointed out the Mercedes, which was stopped on the side of the roadway.
Sgt. Mase and Officer Carney observed a male walking away from the vehicle.
As the officers spoke to Jason Reis, 28, they observed blood running down his left arm from a fresh needle puncture, police said.
Located in plain view in the Mercedes was a hypodermic syringe containing suspected heroin residue on the driver’s seat, multiple wax folds containing suspected heroin residue on the driver side floor, and a glass tube containing suspected cocaine residue in the cup holder, police said.
Reis was charged with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, under the influence of CDS, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, driving while suspended, careless driving, and failure to maintain lane.
Reis was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility on $10,000.00 bail with a ten percent option pending a court hearing.
