Mover charged with stealing $28K worth of jewelry from Budd Lake home

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) – An employee of a Branchville moving company is charged with stealing $28,000.00 worth of jewelry from a Budd Lake customer during a recent move.

Township police responded to a Lamerson Circle residence on Thursday, August 25 for the report of a theft. The victim stated that a wooden jewelry box, containing multiple pieces of jewelry, which had been concealed in the master bedroom closet was missing, police said.

The victims hired Jim Mahon’s Moving Company to assist them with their recent move and shortly after the move was complete the victim discovered the theft, police said.

The missing jewelry was valued at approximately $28,000.00, police said.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the theft was committed by Kenneth W. Wildrick, 52, of Lafayette, NJ, who was employed at the moving company at the time of the theft, police said.

Wildrick was charged with burglary and theft of movable property and was released pending a court hearing.
