WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) – A 20-year-old Oxford, N.J. man has been charged with possessing cocaine, marijuana and having a replica handgun.
On Tuesday at 3:41 p.m., a Washington Twp police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Academy Street in Califon for a motor vehicle violation.
An investigation by the police officer, found that the driver Darren Ader had recently ingested marijuana prior to the motor vehicle stop and was attempting to hide marijuana inside the vehicle while the officer was following behind, police said.
Ader was removed from the vehicle and during this time the officer found that he was utilizing an ankle holster with a handgun secured inside, police said.
A further investigation revealed that it was an air soft handgun which was a replica of a Sig Sauer P226. Also located inside of the vehicle was two zip lock bags of Cocaine, two zip lock bags of Marijuana and multiple items of Drug Paraphernalia including a scale, police said.
Ader was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of cocaine, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued motor vehicle tickets for failure to keep right, speeding, reckless driving, failure to procedure credentials and possession of CDS in motor vehicle.
Ader’s bail was set at $15,000.00 and was then transported to the Hunterdon County Correction Facility.
