Alleged drunken Morris County teen causes disturbance at Centenary University

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) – A drunken Morris County teen was charged after causing a disturbance early Sunday morning at a Centenary University dorm.

Town police at 2:12 a.m. responded to the university’s Van Winkle Hall for a report of a disorderly and intoxicated male. Once officers were at the scene, they heard a male yelling inside a dorm room, police said.

Police identified the male as Roger Fernandez, 19, of Succasunna, N.J., police said.

Fernandez became uncooperative and argumentative with officers and refused to provide identification. The officer also detected the odor of alcohol coming from Fernandez, police said.

As the officer was attempting to place Fernandez under arrest, for refusing to comply with the officer, the male tensed his muscles and passively resisted by not allowing the officer to place his hand behind his back, police said.

After he was placed under arrest, the male would refuse to walk at times and then refused to get into the patrol vehicle, police said.

Fernandez was charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing administration of law and alcohol consumption by a minor. He was then released pending a court appearance.
