HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) – A Warren County town has joined with many other municipalities across New Jersey in acknowledging the importance of their police departments.
The Hackettstown Department of Public Works Tuesday painted a blue line down the center of West Stiger St between Main St and Beatty St also in the entrance way to the municipal building parking lot.
The blue line goes past the municipal building where the police department is located. It’s a daily reminder to show support for the men and women in blue who serve and protect.
Hackettstown Mayor Maria DiGiovanni had the idea on Monday to paint the blue line down West Stiger St and in less than twenty-four hours the project was complete.
The Thin Blue Line is a symbol used by law enforcement to commemorate fallen and to show support for the living law enforcement officers and to symbolize the relationship of law enforcement in the community as the protectors of fellow civilians from criminal elements.
“So proud to say that Hackettstown is painting the “thin blue line” today all down Stiger Street in front of the Police Department and the Municipal Building! Thank you Hackettstown Police Department for the great job you do,” DiGiovanni said.
“The Town had this blue line painted down the center of West Stiger St to show their support for the HPD! Thank you. We feel the support in Hackettstown!,” police said.
The Mayor also gave special thanks to Scott Armstrong and the Hackettstown DPW for doing this so quickly.
