Hackettstown student strikes administrator with backpack, headbutts security guard

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) – A 17-year-old Hackettstown High School student is facing an assault charge after striking a school administrator with a backpack and head-butting a school security guard, police said.

At 2:42 p.m. Friday, police were called to the high school for a report of a student that was assaulting a school security guard, police said.

The teen was allegedly involved in an incident on the school bus. As an administrator was speaking to the teen about the incident, he began cursing and then, struck the administrator in back of the head with his backpack, police said.

The student then head-butted a school security guard, causing injury to the guard’s nose, police said.

The teen is charged with third degree aggravated assault and was released pending a court appearance. The student was not identified because he is a juvenile.
