Cause of illness at a Hackettstown apartment undetermined

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) – The cause of an illness that struck 4 people living in a Hackettstown apartment couldn’t be determined.

At 7:02 p.m. Wednesday, Hackettstown Police and Fire Department responded to 28 Arthur Terrace, Greenview Garden Apartments, for a report of a possible carbon monoxide issue in an apartment, police said.

Hackettstown Medical Center ER staff contacted authorities to check the apartment for possible carbon monoxide issue’s due to 4 people from the apartment coming into the emergency room over the past few days. Their symptoms included nausea, dizziness, headache and vomiting, police said.

A thorough check of the building discovered no carbon monoxide readings and no other chemical sources were detected. The apartment was vacated for the night, police said.

A further check of the patients also determined there was no carbon monoxide detected, police said.

Warren County Hazmat and Warren County Board of Health couldn’t determine what caused the residence to become ill, police said.

Assisting at the scene was the Hackettstown Rescue Squad.
