WASHINGTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Warren County) – A Hackettstown teen is facing weapons and burglary charges following a break-in at a Washington Borough residence.
NJ.com reports that Washington Township officers were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Route 31 South in the borough shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Police said there was an ongoing dispute at the home.
Zachary Tanis, 19, at some point allegedly gained entry into the home without the owner’s consent and used a knife to vandalize the homeowner’s property, police said.
Tanis then fled and a police K-9 unit found him hiding under a work trailer a short distance away, according to police.
Tanis is charged with burglary, criminal mischief, obstruction of the administration of justice, weapon possession, unlawful possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and simple assault. He was sent to the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $7,500 bail.
