MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) – Two Warren County residents charged following a shoplifting incident at Walmart on Thanksgiving Day.
At 8:43 p.m. on Thursday, November 24, township police were dispatched to Walmart on Route 57 for the report of a female shoplifter in the store, police said.
Karen A. Petroll, 60, of Columbia, NJ allegedly opened packages containing ink cartridges and placed the cartridges in her purse, police said.
Walmart loss prevention and police stopped Petroll at the exit. While speaking with her, Kalene Petroll, 23, of Columbia began yelling at officers and became belligerent while flailing her arms. She then pushed away an officer who was trying to calm her down and then she struggled with officers while they were attempting to handcuff her, police said.
Kalene was charged with disorderly conduct and defiant trespass (from an earlier shoplifting incident).
Karen was charged with shoplifting approximately $73.00 worth of merchandise.
Both were released pending a court appearance.
