NJ State Police seize more than 50 pounds of marijuana in Hunterdon County

UNION TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) – The New Jersey State Police seized fifty pounds of marijuana after a trooper spotted two suspicious cars in the parking lot of the Union Township Middle School Sunday evening.

At 8:30 p.m., Detective II Bruce Sanderson noticed a silver sedan with Maryland license plates pull into the empty school lot and back into a parking space. After briefly observing the car from a discreet location, a silver Toyota van with Pennsylvania license plates pulled into the lot and parked alongside the other vehicle. Two men then exited from each car, opened their trunks, and exchanged several packages, police said.

As a result of his observations, Detective Sanderson and assisting troopers engaged the men in the parking lot. After a brief investigation, a canine from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office responded to the scene and positively alerted on both cars. Troopers seized 50 pounds of Marijuana from the Toyota van and more than $39,000 from the Maryland sedan, police said.

Tyrone Durrant, 34, and Kadian McFarlane, 33, both of of Reading, P.A., Chester Fyffe, 47, of Islip, N.Y. and Sasha Fyffe, 25, of Brooklyn, N.Y. were charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute in a school zone, and money laundering.

Fyffe and Durrant were lodged at Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of $150,000 with no ten percent option.

McFarlane was lodged at Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of $150,000 with a ten percent option.

Fyffe was released pending court.
