Firefighters rescue a deer stuck on ice at Boonton Reservoir (VIDEO)

KINNELON, N.J. (Morris County) – A deer that was trapped on top of the ice on the Boonton Reservoir was rescued by firefighters Sunday morning.

On December 11, Patrolman Douglas Shortway and Sergeant Christopher Burns were dispatched to the Boonton Reservoir for a report of a deer stuck on the ice, police said.

When police arrived, they located a deer stuck on the ice approximately 25 yards into the reservoir, police said.

Kinnelon Fire Company contacted the Bloomingdale Fire Department which responded with their ice rescue equipment and were able to safely rescue the deer from the ice, police said.
