SPARTA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) – A 39-year-old Sussex County woman is facing criminal mischief charges after she allegedly throws a rock through a window at the Institute for Spiritual Development Church in Sparta.
On Christmas Eve, township police were dispatched to the Institute for Spiritual Development Church, located at 15 Sparta Avenue, for the report of criminal mischief, Sgt. Dennis Proctor said.
Police discovered a broken stained glass window that had a rock thrown through it. The damage caused was estimated to be $5,000.00 at the time of the incident, proctor said.
An investigation revealed that Valerie R. Bradley of Hamburg, threw the rock through the window in an attempt to gain the attention of somebody inside the building in an effort to get a ride home, Proctor said.
During a police interview, Bradley admitted to doing the crime, proctor said.
Bradley was charged with third degree criminal mischief and was released pending a court date.
