Tuesday’s Snowfall, When and How Much

New Jersey is facing a massive winter storm, with snow expected to begin falling late tonight in the southwestern portion of the state and continue through Tuesday.  As the storm approaches, forecasts are gaining clarity.  here’s what we know right now.

The Start

The first flakes are expected to fall here in New Jersey in the southern portion of the state at around 8 pm.  it’s expected to work its way northward and hit the local area after midnight.

The Worst of the Storm

The storm is expected to be at its worst around noontime Tuesday, with snowfall potentials of between 2 and 4 inches an hour, along with high winds.  In light of that rate of snowfall, local crews will not be able to keep up with clearing many of the main roads, let alone side roads.

When it Ends

The snow is expected to taper off Tuesday evening throughout much of the state with the possibility of lingering snow showers on Wednesday.

According to ‘RNJ’s meteorologists snowfall totals for north Jersey are expected to land between 22 and 28 inches.
