HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – The high school went into a shelter in place Wednesday morning while a planned, two-hour drug sweep involving K9 units and law enforcement was conducted.
The sweep, which resulted in no illegal substances being found, is part of a prevention strategy coordinated by the Hackettstown Police Department, Hackettstown Board of Education and Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
The sweep began shortly before 9:00 a.m. and ended shortly after 11:00 a.m., police said.
This morning, parents were alerted by phone and Nixle alert that the school was in a shelter in place and that the children were safe and secure.
“The police department considers the sweep a success and it sends the message that drugs won’t be tolerated in our school system,” police said.
Assisting with the drug sweep were K-9 Units from Hackettstown, Mansfield Twp., Washington Twp. (Warren County), Morris County Sheriff’s Office and the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
