JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Sussex County man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Jefferson Twp. on Sunday evening.
At 6:41p.m., township police responded to a report of motor vehicle crash on Ridge Road in the area of Holland Mountain Road, police said.
An initial police investigation revealed that Joe Rivera, 58 of Stockholm, NJ was traveling west on Ridge Road, operating a 2007 Harley Davidson Motorcycle, when the vehicle left the roadway striking a guide rail, police said.
Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Jefferson Township Police Department.
“Would like to thank the numerous other Officers of the Jefferson Township Police Department which responded. He would also like to thank the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Jefferson Township Fire Co. #1 & 2, the Milton First Aid Squad. The roadway was closed to complete the investigation,” Jefferson Township Police Chief William Craig said.
