WASHINGTON BOROUGH, NJ (Warren County) – A bizarre theft in Washington Borough left a business without its landmark after someone stole a 4-foot tall decorative rooster on Father’s Day.
At 2:00 a.m. on June 18, some chicken rustlers stole a decorative rooster from Hometown Fried Chicken, located at 25 E. Washington Avenue in Washington Borough, police said.
The pilfered poultry is described as a 4 foot tall decorative rooster, police said.
Some of the “rustlers” appear to have been imbibing in adult beverages. Perhaps they were “picking up” a late Father’s Day present, or thought they were saving the rooster from the fryer, police said.
“If you are one of the “rustlers” or know who they are, or possibly received a 4 foot rooster for Father’s day please contact the Washington Township Police Department (Warren County) at 908-689-1111 so this rooster can be returned to the rightful owner,” police said.
