BLAIRSTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A 74-year-old Lake Hopatcong man has died after he fell off an ATV Saturday evening, Blairstown Township Captain Scott Johnsen said.
At 5:54 p.m., Det. Bisanzio and Officer Dillon responded to 107 State Highway 94 for a report of a male that fell off an ATV. The man was slightly breathing and had a pulse, Johnsen said.
When police arrived, they found Dominick Sarinelli in the woods, approximately thirty yards down a hill, laying on the ground face up and unresponsive, Johnsen said.
Emergency crews began to perform CPR on Sarinelli and was then transported to Newton Medical Center by Blairstown Ambulance Corp, Johnsen said.
A police investigation revealed, that Sarinelli and a friend were hunting and Sarinelli was on the back of the ATV, Johnsen said.
They were about to travel uphill, when they came across a large branch that was across the trail and the ATV would not have been able to make it over the branch. Sarinelli went to say something and then fell “heels over head” onto to the ground, Johnsen said.
Police didn’t release the cause of death.
