HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A local doctor and a suspended doctor have been charged as a result of a joint investigation involving the Hackettstown Police Department, the Washington Township Police Department, the Roxbury Township Police Department, the New Jersey State Police, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, Enforcement Bureau, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Prosecutor’s office said.
Paramjit Singh, 58, of the 200 block of Franklin St Hackettstown has been charged with third-degree practicing medicine without a valid license. Through a further investigation it has been revealed that Paramjit Singh was also using the name Dr. Reen, Hackettstown police said Tuesday evening.
Parminderjeet Sandhu, 64, of the 100 block of Naughright Rd Long Valley, NJ has been charged with third-degree aiding or abetting another in practicing medicine without a valid license.
The charges were the result of an investigation into Singh practicing without a valid license at Medical Care Associates, Family Practice/Urgent Care. Medical Care Associates has three offices located in Roxbury Township, Hackettstown and Washington Township (Warren County), which are all owned by Sandhu.
Sandhu is the founder of Medical Care Associates. He opened up the Hackettstown office in 1986 as a solo practitioner with a vision of creating a quality and compassionate medical practice. As the practice grew, Dr. Sandhu saw the need to add additional services and specialties to better serve his patients, according to Medical Care Associates website.
Singh’s medical license was suspended in 2004 and its alleged that Sandhu was aware that Singh’s medical license had been suspended and facilitated him in practicing medicine regardless.
The third degree offenses carry a maximum term of imprisonment of five years and/or fine of $75,000.
