HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – An SUV crashed into a business on Main Street Tuesday morning causing damage to the building.

At 9:47 a.m., a 2008 Jeep rammed into the front of Srub-A-Dub Doggie, located at 283 Main St, police said.

A police investigation determined that Norman Barrier, 76, of Budd Lake, was at the intersection of Center St and Route 46, police said.

According to police, a witness stated the car reversed on Center St, and then preceded forward, crossing Route 46 and crashing through the building.

Barrier allegedly stated his foot slipped off the brake and caused his vehicle to accelerate into the intersection and then into the building, police said.

Barrier suffered a laceration to the face and refused medical attention and he was issued a summons for careless driving, police said.

The building sustained heavy damage to the front entrance, windows and to the structure, police said.

The business was closed at the time of the crash and it will remain closed until the structure’s integrity has been checked, police said.

Assisting at the scene was the Hackettstown Fire Department, Hackettstown Rescue Squad, Hackettstown Construction Officer and the Mount Olive Twp. Fire Marshal.
