NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Newton man has entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, for a 2016 incident that occurred in Hampton Township the prosecutor’s office said.
Michael Kaprosch, 55, pleaded guilty to third-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon before Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on Tuesday.
It was during the jury selection process, Kaprosch decided to plead guilty to the charges, the prosecutor’s office said.
In pleading guilty, the defendant allegedly admitted to striking an individual in the head with a squeegee at the Quick Chek in Hampton Township on August 18, 2016, and causing bodily injury to the victim.
The case was investigated by Trooper M.G. Kelly and Trooper A. R. Finch of the New Jersey State Police and Detective Dean Voris of the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Sentencing is presently anticipated for December 15, 2017.
