MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A woman who allegedly was being held hostage by her boyfriend told a pizza delivery man to call police.
On September 18 at 4:19 p.m., township police responded to an apartment on Alexandria Drive on the report of a woman being held hostage by her boyfriend, police said.
A pizza delivery man was told by a female that she was being held against her will and asked him to call police, authorities said.
An officer made contact with the female in the apartment and while speaking with her, the 62-year-old boyfriend stood in between them and began screaming at the officer, police said.
The male refused the officers directions and was told several times to comply or be arrested for obstruction. He was then told he was under arrest and struggled with the officer causing them to fall to the floor. Additional officers arrived on scene and assisted with taking him into custody, police said.
A marijuana pipe was found in his pocket along with a small amount of marijuana in the home. He was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“The female decided not to pursue charges and he was later transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation,” police said.
Police didn’t release the names of the individuals involved.
