JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Clifton man and teen are facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into the Jefferson Township Middle School earlier this month, according to Jefferson Township Police Detective Joseph Kratzel.
Brian Barone, 51, and a 15 year old male were both charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
On October 14 at 2:15 p.m., officer Brian McCarthy responded to the Jefferson Township Middle School in reference to a burglary, Kratzel said.
Officer McCarthy’s initial investigation revealed an unknown suspect(s) entered the Jefferson Township Middle School and caused damage to the school. A safe was forcibly opened and the contents were removed, Kratzel said.
Based on a police investigation and with the help of witnesses from a Mother’s Market taking place at the Jefferson Township Middle School, on October 14, an arrest warrant was authorized for Barone, Kratzel said.
Baroneis currently logged in the Morris County Correctional Facility.
The teem was issued a juvenile delinquency complaint.
