Election Day is Tuesday, November 7th, and RNJ wants to help you be an informed voter. The RNJ News Department will present a series of four political forums, featuring local races, so you can hear from the candidates themselves on where they stand on issues affecting you. All forums will air at 11:05 a.m. Three of the four forums will also be rebroadcast at 7:05 in the evening. A few hours after they air, the forums will be available on our website, wrnj.com. On Tuesday, October 31st, you’ll hear from candidates for the State Assembly 24th District. Democratic candidates Kate Mattesen and Gina Trish will be on the phone, and Republican incumbent candidate Parker Space and candidate Hal Wirths will be in our studio. New Jersey’s 24th Legislative District includes portions of Morris, Sussex and Warren counties.
On Wednesday, November 1st, WRNJ will feature the Warren County Freeholder’s race. The candidates are Republican incumbent Freeholder Rick Gardner and Democratic candidate Carol Cook.
On Thursday, November 2nd, WRNJ will talk with candidates for the Allamuchy Town Council. Candidates include Republican incumbent Elliott Koppel, Republican candidate Rosemary Tuohy, and Democratic candidate Lynne Kramer.
On Friday, November 3rd, WRNJ will present candidates for the State Assembly 24th District. Republican candidates (both incumbents) Eric Peterson and John DiMaio will be our RNJ studio. Democratic candidates Laura Shaw and Charles Boddy declined to participate in the forum.
WRNJ also attempted to present a fifth forum, featuring candidates for the New Jersey State Senate from the 23rd District. Republican Incumbent Michael Doherty was willing to participate, however, Democratic challenger Christine Lui Chen was not.
Forums will air each day at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday forums will be rebroadcast at 7:05 each evening, and the Forums will be available on our website, in the “Audio Archives” section of warn.com.
