Truly finding the unexpected recently, Morning Mike had a chance to talk with Andrew Scott, owner of the Highland Airs Alpaca Ranch – in Hackettstown! This unknown little gem is located at 10 River Road, just off King’s Highway in Washington Township, Morris County, just over the Musconetcong from Beattystown. Andrew shared how his family, originally from Scotland, found this ranch – which had been there for many years – and took an interest in these animals, native of Peru. When the original owners wanted to retire, Andrew’s family stepped in to become the new owners.
The Highland Airs Alpaca Ranch is open for tours and “halter training,” and they have a store which features, of course, Alpaca clothing. Some items are made from the animals living on the ranch.
