WATCH: Police dashcam catches meteor over Sparta Twp.

SPARTA TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A police dashboard camera caught a rare sight on Saturday, December 2 – a bright meteor over Sparta Township.

Sparta Police Sergeant Frank Schomp was on routine patrol in the Lake Mohawk section, when he captured the meteor on his dash camera, police said.

This meteor was captured shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Dec 2.

“It is an early arrival of the “Geminid” Meteor shower, which will peak Dec. 13-14, 2017,” police said.
