Morris County man seriously injured after track hoe runs over his Leg

CLINTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Morris County man was seriously injured on a construction site in Clinton Thursday morning.

At 9:03 a.m., officers Jeffrey Ollerenshaw and Peter Tilstra responded to 33 West Main Street for a report of an industrial accident involving a life threatening crushing leg injury, police said.

Officers Ollerenshaw and Tilstra arrived within minutes and discovered a 58-year-old Rockaway, NJ man had his leg run over by a track hoe, police said.

While Ptl. Tilstra stabilized the man, Ptl. Ollerenshaw applied a tourniquet. The Clinton First Aid and Rescue Squad arrived and the man was further treated, police said.

The man was air lifted to St Lukes Trauma Center in Bethlehem, PA.

According to police, 33 West Main Street was being demolished at the time of the accident.

Chief Matheis stated, “In all likelihood if the officers weren’t properly trained and equipped with trauma equipment including tourniquets and without their quick response and actions, the victim might not have survived the scene.”
