SPARTA TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County woman was charged for allegedly stealing four TVs from a business in Sparta Township.

Ruth Hook, 44, of Hamburg, NJ was charged on December 12 with third-degree burglary and third-degree theft of movable property.

On October 12, township police responded to a commercial office space, located on Fisher’s Lane, for a report of four Samsung 40” televisions, total value of $1,315.96, stolen from the business, Sparta Township Police Lieutenant John Lamon said.

Township Detectives McCarrick and Hassloch were able to identify Hook based on interviews and surveillance camera footage, Lamon said.

Hook is the wife of one of the sub-contractors that was doing work at the business, which was under renovation. Access was gained to the office using a spare key that was made available for the sub-contractors to use while they were doing work at the site, Lamon said.

Hook was lodged in the Keogh Dwyer Correctional Facility to await a court hearing.
