BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – Two Sussex County residents are facing drug charges after police allegedly find heroin and syringes during a traffic stop in Byram Township Tuesday.
Kristina Quinn of Stillwater was charged with under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic syringe, cracked windshield, maintenance of lamps, failure to produce registration, possession of a suspended NJ license and suspended NJ license.
Matthew Schmarr of Stillwater was charged with possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic syringe and under the influence of a controlled substance.
At 4:01 p.m., a township police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Jones Lane off of Route 206, police said.
Upon making contact with Schmarr and Quinn, the officer believed they were both under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.
Schmarr admitted to the officer that he had recently injected heroin. He also admitted that there was heroin and syringes in the vehicle. The officer recovered six bags of heroin and two syringes from the vehicle, which he claimed the ownership, police said.
A further search of the vehicle revealed an additional syringe in a purse belonging to Quinn and numerous empty bags of heroin, police said.
